For two years I worked two nights a week as an apprentice to master sculptor Kim Graham (now Kim Beaton).
This Dragon Skull was one of our last projects together and one of our
most collaborative, I did up a lot of sketches, Kim made a maquette, and
off we went. The original was build up in water
clay on a mirror,
the gray photo to the right shows the reflection. We
made a
silicon mold with a plaster support shell and I still pull a few
copies
every year which are sold at a local Gargoyle store.

A very fun project, we started working on the other half, but it was never completed.
Kim was hired directly by Richard Taylor of Weta over four years ago, and resides now in New Zealand!
