The idea was to create a fantasy helmet for a Satyr, one that looked like the ears and horns came through the helm, were not actually part of it. This long before the movie version of "The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe".
Base helmet was a fiberglass cast off of a metal one. Horns were urethane casts off of originals. Ears were flocked and detailed plastic taxidermy ears of a white tailed deer. Add some leather and plastic and lots of miscellaneous nick-knacks and there you have it.
