Things are going well. I have a couple of new projects in the works and this page is both the portal to my traditional art site and the staging area for other things. One fun project started out as "The 2011 one sketch a day for 42 days" exercise that I have been posting on Facebook. I ended up doing a sketch every day in 2011. I took a bit of a break in 2012, but I am doing it again for 2013. www.facebook.com/douglasherring is my default Facebook Page. The sketches start in the public album 42 Days of Sketches Part II.
Been getting back to my roots in video of late too. A number of tests and short subjects are up on my YouTube Channel: www.youtube.com/user/douglasherring07Not on that channel, I also shot a version of "Blackfield Bends the Knee" in the fall of 2012, that can be found here: http://youtu.be/qPWpYdW0uvc
For my animated Star Trek project, see www.animatedtrek.com. I have been playing with fantasy helmets and other costume designs for many years, now planning on marketing a few, so www.FantasyHelms.com is now up, but is little more than a placeholder, I am right now in the preliminary stages of a first project for that site.
As always, this site is a work in progress. A major update will happen soon.
Please note that a click on any graphic on a sub page will take you up to it's original menu page, that is my quick navigation system, for what it is worth.
"It's what I do..." is how I generally answer the "oh, you are an artist?" question, usually asked when someone observes me sketching, so the question does seem a bit redundant. But yes, that is what I do. I am a generalist, in many ways I wish I had focused on one medium over the years, mastered it to the degree I would like; but no, my interests bounce all over the place and I am a jack of many mediums, master of none. But I have had a lot of fun along the way and wouldn't change a thing if I could. Hmmm, well... yeah....
I spent fifteen years as an artist and art director in the Computer Games industry, prior to that, six years as an Art Director at a television station. I always have a sketch book with me and I am almost compulsed to doodle when ever there is even the slightest opportunity. Hey, it is what I do...
Reviewing thirty plus years of my work for this website has been overwhelming, irritating, and humbling. I still have so much I want to do with my work! Onward and upwards! Thanks for checking this site out, I hope the best is yet to come! Please keep checking back!
Sincerely,
Doug-
